A tornado warning has been issued for southwestern Grand Forks County and southeastern Nelson County in North Dakota until 6:30 p.m.

At 5:17 p.m. a confirmed tornado was located near McVille, or 37 miles southeast of Devils Lake, moving east at 35 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

At 5:40 p.m., a confirmed tornado was located over Larimore, or 26 miles west of Grand Forks.

The weather service says potential locations impacted include Logan Center, Kempton, Northwood and Larimore.

The weather service says to take cover and move into a basement or an interior room on the lowest level of a sturdy building.

“Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris,” the weather service said.
